Dancer's Bios

Victoria Jenkins
Victoria Jenkins is a San Diego native who began ballet at the age of 5. She studied at California Ballet until she was 15 then received a scholarship to attend the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in Winnipeg, Canada. She joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet company at 18 and enjoyed working with many different choreographers and touring the United States and Canada. She relocated back to San Diego at 20 and joined the California Ballet and later Golden State Ballet. Notable roles include Nikiya La Bayadere, White Swan Pas de Deux, Kitri Don Quixote, Aurora Sleeping Beauty, and Sugarplum Grand pas from the Nutcracker. Among her other achievements she graduated with distinction from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet school, is certified yoga instructor and ballet teacher for the ages 3-16

Marshall Whiteley
Marshall started dancing at age 13 after becoming a nationally ranked hockey player. Training at San Diego Academy of Ballet and then Dmitri Kulev Classical ballet academy, he finished training at The Washington Ballet school under Kee Juan Han.
After several years in the studio company at TWB, he joined American Ballet Theater for 6 years, touring the world and performing both the classic rep and new works.

Sona Jaeger
Sona Jaeger is a native of Japan. She began her ballet training at Hikarigaoka Dance Academy and The Tokyo Ballet School. In 2007, she continued her training at the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco under Marika Besobrasove and Roland Vogel. After Monaco, she went on to train at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and graduated in 2010.
Sona has danced professionally with Royal Winnipeg Ballet, City Ballet of San Diego, Columbia Classical Ballet, California Ballet, and is currently with Golden State Ballet. She has performed many featured roles such as Pas de Trois in Agon, The Man I Love, Embraceable You in Who Cares?, Walking Pas De Deux in Emeralds, demi solo girl in Walpurgisnacht, Kitri’s friends in Don Quixote, and Sugar Plum Fairy, Dew Drop, Snow Queen in The Nutcracker. She was honored to be a part of Jared Nelson’s premieres of Bolero, Cinderella and The Nutcracker.

Reka Gyulai
Resident Choreographer
Reka Gyulai received her professional training at the Hungarian Dance Academy in Budapest, Hungary, where she was trained by prominent ballet figures including Imre Dozsa, Zoltan Solymosi, and Mark Diamond. Reka was a finalist at the International Ballet Competition in Vienna in 2004. In 2006, she received the prestigious Elvira Vecsei Prize and a Scholarship from the Republic from the Hungarian Ministry of Education.
Ms. Gyulai has performed with the Hungarian National Ballet, Columbia Classical Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, New Jersey Ballet Company, International Ballet Company, Dance Alive National Ballet in Florida, and California Ballet Company in San Diego. She toured extensively with these companies in Russia, Transylvania, Brazil, and throughout the United States. Her repertoire includes principal roles in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Wizard of Oz, Don Quixote, Walpurgis Night, Swan Lake, Phantom of the Opera, and others, as well as contemporary works by Adam Hougland, Edwaard Liang, Ashley Page, Marcello Angelini, Ma Cong, Kevin Jenkins, Jared Nelson, and Septime Webre.
Reka is currently a freelancer.

Moisés Carrada Palmero
First Soloist on “Compañía Nacional de Danza” Mexico.
He studied in Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea on Mexico getting scholarships to Miami City Ballet School, Orlando Ballet School and ABT to perfect his technic.
On 2015 he entered to “Compañía Nacional de Danza” promoted to corypheo on 2016, on 2019 to Soloist and in 2021 to First Soloist.
He has interpreted almost all the repertoire at the company such as choreographies of Nacho Duato, Uwe Schultz, Maurice Bejart, Itzik Galili, John Cranko and Marco Goecke.

Miranda Giles
Miranda Giles is originally from Ohio who started ballet at the age of 3. She trained at Columbus City Ballet School and later went on to finish her training with the Joffrey Ballet and Los Angeles Ballet. She has been dancing in San Diego professionally since 2017 and is currently a Soloist with the Golden State Ballet in San Diego and appears courtesy of Golden State Ballet. Miranda has been the recipient of two YAGP Hope awards. She spends a lot of time coaching young children and teaching at local ballet schools in San Diego. Her most favored roles include Sugar Plum Fairy and Black Swan. In her free time, she likes to work on her clothing line, Miranda Rose Designs, and spend time at the beach.

Lester Gonzalez
Lester Gonzalez graduated from the National Ballet School of Havana, Cuba. In 2011, he joined the Ballet
Laura Alonso as a company dancer. He later decided to emigrate to the United States with his siblings
with the desire to expand his professional opportunities.
Throughout his career, he has performed diverse roles from the classical and contemporary repertoire,
including lead roles in Septime Webre’s The Great Gatsby and Fluctuating Hemlines. While dancing with
Ballet San Antonio, he performed as Romeo in Edwaard Liang’s Romeo and Juliet. Lester was featured in
productions with the San Diego Opera, Arizona Opera, and the LA Opera. He was invited to perform at
the final gala of Yucatan Dance Stage in Mexico, in 2019. He is a former company dancer of the Dayton
Ballet. Lester is now a freelance dancer and enjoys performing nationally and internationally.

Silken Kelly

From Denver, Colorado, Silken Kelly began her training at the Academy of Colorado Ballet. She attended summer intensives at the Harid Conservatory and American Ballet Theatre. As a full-scholarship student, she attended the School of American Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Ballet West. She joined the Houston Ballet’s second company and later the main company, touring nationally and internationally. Since relocating to New York in 2015, Silken joined Dance Theatre of Harlem for a season, has performed with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, danced with Cleveland Ballet, and many other project based companies in New York. She also dances with Sweetbird Production’s Rock the Ballet, touring all throughout Europe. Silken has founded her own company, Contingent Ballet, that has had successful virtual performances, has worked with Canon Camera, and has been part of a film festival, creating an original dance film. Silken is also a working actress, having been a supporting role in a Hallmark movie, as well as a Hulu mini-series.

Laurence Gonzalez
Laurence Gonzalez began his classical ballet training at the age of 9 in the Elementary Ballet School in La Habana, Cuba. At the age of 18 he graduated as a professional ballet dancer from the School National Ballet of Cuba. He began his professional career at Laura Alonso Ballet in Havana, Cuba where he had the opportunity to dance in large production ballets i.e. The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Dracula, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire, where he danced both Principal and Corps de Ballet roles. He also danced various pas de deuxs including Spartacus, Don Quixote, Diana and Acteon, White Swan (Swan Lake), and more. Also, he has performed with the San Diego Opera several times dancing as a lead (Maria de Buenos Aires, Carmen, Great Scott). He has traveled worldwide during his professional career, touring Europe with Sweetbirds Productions being his most recent international commitment dancing "Rock The Ballet". He currently resides in San Diego, California previously dancing for California Ballet Company, and guests with various local studios and companies in Southern California.

Betzi Roe

Betzi Roe trained in ballet in Los Angeles and San Francisco and joined the Hartford Ballet in 1969. She received a Master Degree in Dance from UCLA where she studied modern dance and many multi-cultural dance forms. In 1972 she co-founded a highly visible modern dance company here in San Diego, and also toured a one-woman concert of works by regional and national artists from 1987-2002. She has choreographed and produced concerts of her own works and created pieces for other companies over the past 50 years. Betzi was Director and Producer of the Nations of San Diego International Dance Festival for 2006-15 and Chair of the Classical and Contemporary Dance Conservatory at Coronado School of the Arts 1996-2018.

Erin Brown
Erin began dancing at the age of 3 and has been a student at the Scripps Performing Arts Academy since 2015. She has participated in SPAA Summer Intensive programs for 5 summers. Erin has spent her summers training with Boston Ballet and Ballet West, in addition to SPAA, and also received a full scholarship for the Summer dance program at UNLV.

Melody Luyun
Melody began dancing at the age of 3 years old at the Scripps Performing Arts Academy. She has attended four summer intensive programs at Scripps Performing Arts Academy and has been accepted to summer programs with Boston Ballet, Ballet Austin and Texas Ballet Theatre. An aspiring choreographer, she has presented work in Ballet in the Box 2022 and will present a new piece for Ballet and Beyond this March.

Lucas Kwan
Lucas began his training just 4 years ago at the age of 12 years old and has grown into a powerhouse of a dancer. He has attended Summer programs with Scripps Performing Arts Academy for all 4 years and attended The Rock Center for Dance Education’s Summer program on a Full Scholarship.
